Julian Tepper

American writer and musician (born 1979)

Julian Tepper is a multifaceted American creative, born in 1979, who has made a name for himself in the literary world as a novelist and essayist. With a career spanning multiple publications, his writing has been featured in esteemed outlets such as The Paris Review, Playboy, and The Brooklyn Rail, showcasing his versatility and talent. Tepper has authored four novels to date: Balls, released in 2012, Ark in 2016, Between the Records in 2020, and his most recent work, Cooler Heads, published in 2024.

In addition to his literary pursuits, Tepper is also a musician and has been involved in the indie rock scene. As a member of the band The Natural History, he co-wrote the hit song "Don't You Evah" for the band Spoon. Tepper's essays have also garnered recognition, with his piece "Locking Down with the Family You've Just Eviscerated in a Novel" being named a notable essay of 2021 in The Best American Essays 2022.
