Dov Lior

Israeli Orthodox rabbi (born 1933)

Dov Lior is a prominent Israeli Orthodox rabbi, born in 1933, who has played a significant role in the country's religious and political landscape. As a key figure in a far-right, nationalist movement, he has advocated for the establishment of an ethnic and religious state. His leadership positions have included serving as the Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Arba, a Jewish settlement located near the West Bank town of Hebron, until his departure in late 2014.

In addition to his role as Chief Rabbi, Lior has held other influential positions, including serving as the dean of the Kiryat Arba IDF-Hesder Yeshiva. He also leads the council of rabbis for the West Bank settlements, further solidifying his impact on the region's religious community. Lior's involvement in politics extends to his founding of the Tekumah party, a hard-right political organization established in collaboration with fellow rabbis Zalman Melamed and Chaim Steiner. Through his various roles, Lior has maintained a strong presence in Israeli Orthodox circles and continues to shape the country's religious and political discourse.
