Samson Kehimkar was a renowned Jewish Indian musician, skilled in playing the violin and sitar. His musical career spanned multiple genres, including Indian classical music, film, and pop. Prior to his emigration in 1976, Kehimkar was an active member of various Indian orchestras and bands, showcasing his versatility as a musician.
Kehimkar played a significant role in promoting ethnic and world music in Israel, where he co-founded the group "Habrera Hativit". He also had a profound influence on fellow musician Shlomo Bar, who considered Kehimkar his mentor. Despite struggling with severe diabetes for several years, which ultimately led to the amputation of both legs, Kehimkar continued to contribute to the music scene until his passing in 2007.
