Gedaliah Anemer

Gedaliah Anemer was a prominent Orthodox Jewish rabbi who lived from 1932 to 2010. He is notable for founding the Yeshiva of Greater Washington, an institution where he served as the dean, or rosh yeshiva, for 45 years. During his tenure, he played a significant role in shaping the educational and spiritual landscape of the community. Anemer's own spiritual guidance was influenced by his discipleship under Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Bloch, from whom he drew inspiration and knowledge.
In addition to his work at the Yeshiva of Greater Washington, Rabbi Anemer held leadership positions in other key organizations. He headed the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington, leveraging his expertise to guide the community on matters of Jewish law and practice. Furthermore, he led the Vaad HaKashrus, an organization responsible for overseeing kosher certification and ensuring the adherence to dietary laws within the community. Through these roles, Rabbi Anemer left a lasting impact on the Orthodox Jewish community, fostering a deeper understanding and observance of Jewish traditions.
